Provision of discount of 0.5% to customers of suburban sections on booking of season tickets if payment is made through digital means

Sub: Provision of discount of 0.5% to customers of suburban sections on booking of season tickets if payment is made through digital means.
Ministry of Railways have decided that 0.5% discount in the base fare of season tickets (Monthly, quarterly, Half yearly, yearly) over suburban section shall be granted in case the payment is made through digital means through debit card, credit card etc.. Other charges like MUTP surcharge, Mela surcharge, service tax etc., if applicable shall be levied separately on the base fare arrived at after giving the 0.5% concession.
2. Sample calculation of the discount and fare of season tickets thereon for journey of 15 Kms (minimum charge Rs.150 for second class and Rs.600 for first class) is as under:-

5. Other charges like MUTP surcharge, Mela surcharqe, service tax etc., if applicable shall be levied separately on the fare arrived at after giving 0.5% concession and the total so arrived at.
6. The above shall be implemented with effect from 01.01.2017.
7. CRIS and IRCTC shall ensure necessary changes in the software and arrangements for the above.
8. The receipt of this letter may be acknowledged. Also please check these instructions on the Indian Railways website – www.indianrailways.gov.in Under the head commercial circulars.
9. Wide publicity may be given through print and electronic media DD & AIR and at stations through public announcements at stations, notice boards / railway websites, etc.
