SCR completes electrification of New Railway Line between New Piduguralla – Savalyapuram
- New railway line between New Pidiguralla – Savalyapuram, for a distance of 46 Kms, has been completed and commissioned for train operations. This new railway line is a part of Nadikude – Srikalahasti new railway line project in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
The Line was constructed as part of Nadikude – Srikalahasti New Railway line Project in June 2020
As part of Mission Electrification, SCR is completing the electrification of the existing railway lines across its network. Taking this ahead, electrification of the new railway line between New Pidiguralla – Savalyapuram, for a distance of 46 Kms, has been completed and commissioned for train operations. This new railway line is a part of Nadikude – Srikalahasti new railway line project in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
Nadikude – Srikalahasti new railway line project is one of the important & prestigious projects taken up in the State of Andhra Pradesh by South Central Railway connecting interior regions of Guntur, Prakasham and Nellore Districts on the rail map. The new line between New Piduguralla – Savalyapuram will facilitate direct traffic movement from Secunderabad to Dhone direction via New Piduguralla, bypassing Nallapadu junction.
The electrification of rail lines helps in providing seamless movement of trains by avoiding change of traction power. It also reduces enroute detention of both the coaching and freight trains leading to improvement in the average speed of trains. The electrification of this new rail line helps in operating of train services with electric traction on end-to-end basis. Electrification also helps in saving fuel costs and is also an environment-friendly.
Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway has appreciated the entire staff & Officers of Electrical department and Construction department for executing the electrification works with great commitment & dedication. The General Manager has stated that the Zone is progressing rapidly towards electrification of entire SCR network on war footing basis.
